Java Boost FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS!
- Tube amps: Yes this pedal was desinged to work in front of tube amps. The preamp section of your guitar amplifier
should be tube-based. There is a special (musical!) interaction with the circuit and the triode.
- Other Effects: The Java Boost works great in other places, in fact my new favorite sound is the java boost pushing
a TS9. Man, the sparkle and sustain is music to my ears. I wouldn't have thought it would be so sweet there.
- Compressor and the Java Boost: Well, I don't think it would be a good idea to run the compressor after the Java
Boost...it would compress the boost! Try the compressor before the Java Boost if you only have those two pedals.
(Poor guy! ;-)) Othewise run the guitar into your java boost, into a TS9 or BD-2, then into the compressor! I
really like that sound.
- I got my Java Boost and it's the best pedal ever but: There is a static or scratchy sound when I move the LEVEL
control. That is perfectly okay! This old, primative circuit changes the level by adjusting the DC bias.
That creates a static sound only when you move the control. It will not make that sound when you play.
- How long is the wait for one? Well, it's about 2 weeks right now. Try a dealer. They might have them
in stock. Dealers wait in line too, they just order a couple at a time so they should have a couple. Otherwise
you can buy from me and I'll be glad to help you personally.
- Do I get full service if I buy from a dealer? Yes, the dealers will help you and I will do anything and everything
I can to make sure you are completely satisfied and have no service problems.
- What is the difference in the TMB and Java Boost? The TMB is TWO PEDALS in one! The TMB has a vintage side
which is like the Java Boost and it has a Modern side which is like a Super Pre-Amp. The TMB only has two modes on the
vintage side, Treble and Mid boost. The Java Boost has three modes, adding a full range boost. The Java Boost
has the much-sought-after OC 44 Mullard transistor which some people say is the best sounding device for this circuit.
The TMB has a Vintage AC188 which sounds incredible too. Many people say there is no real big difference in the first
two modes. The Java Boost runs on batteries as well as DC adapter power. The TMB does not accept batteries.
Both are great pedals, the TMB is just two pedals! The Java Boost is a more elaborate version of half of the Time Machine
Boost.
